FY 26 Subs for Subs Trainings!
Greetings!
Attached you will find our Subs for Subs flyer for FY26. We are thankful for our partnerships that will support our Substitute Teachers during their trainings! Our local Subway will be providing the participants lunch and Ag in the Classroom will be offering a Substitute Tool Bag with helpful resources. These training sessions are open to anyone interested in becoming a Substitute Teacher OR a NEW Short-Term Substitute Teacher. If you know someone with an Associate’s degree or higher, or someone who has completed 60 hours of coursework, please share this information with them.
All trainings will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at our ROE #21 Training Center. Our first training session for FY26 will take place on August 13, 2025. For more details, or to register for one of our trainings, please click the link on the flyer or visit our website.
Important Information Regarding the Short-Term Substitute (STS) License:
- Application Fee for the license is $25.00.
- Application is available through June 30, 2028.
- The license is valid for substitute teaching in PreK-Grade 12 and valid for 5 years.
- License holders cannot teach more than 5 consecutive days per licensed teacher in the same school year.
- Must complete a Short-Term Substitute Training to hold the STS License.
- The individual may serve as a Paraprofessional.
- A minimum of 60 hours of college coursework must be at the 100-level or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
- In order to be placed on the ROE #21 Substitute Listing, individuals must also have a background check, health exam, and TB test.
Prior to attending a Subs for Subs Event, each individual must have completed the following steps:
- Pay in full for the Subs for Subs event ($20.00) to secure your spot.
- Create an ELIS account on the ISBE website HERE! (Please make sure you are using GOOGLE CHROME OR FIREFOX as your browser. MacBooks and handheld devices are not compatible with ISBE’s website)
- Submit official college transcripts in a sealed envelope to one of our ROE #21 offices, or via e-script to licensure@roe21.org.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for addressing student needs in the areas of academics, physical, social and emotional success, as well as addressing goals and objectives in their IEP. Candidates must be able to work with all ability levels and exceptionalities. Excellent communication skills with parents/guardians, students, and other staff will be required. The successful candidate will be under the supervision of the building administrator and Special Education Coordinator.

We are excited to announce a new opening starting August 2025 for an Early Childhood Spe Education Teacher. The position could also be filled by a Preschool or a Special Education Teacher willing to obtain Early Childhood certification.
