Lindsay Watts, a 2005 graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and Teaching and Assistant Superintendent for Marion CUSD #2, was named the Shawnee Region Herman Graves Award Winner by the Illinois Principals Association (IPA) in May 2025. This is a regional recognition for her work and is considered the highest honor bestowed by the IPA. She has also held the position of State Director for the Shawnee Region on the IPA Board of Directors.

As a native Floridian, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale found me...instead of me finding them! Because they provided the ground work for successful opportunities to present themselves for my entire life!
